Biography
I was born and grew up in Zimbabwe
and now live in Israel. I was brought up in the bush, the outback
of savannas and few people. As a child in Zimbabwe, I painted in the
studio of an artist who, at the time, could not buy paper because
of sanctions. Artists made their own paper, which has remained the
beginning for me; a work begins with making your own paper.
At the University of Cape Town in South Africa, I pursued
painting, sculpting and printmaking. I acquired a B.A in Fine Arts,
and also won the McIver Prize for painting.
Since immigrating to Israel, I have been continuously working in my
studio, exhibiting and teaching my personal techniques. My workshop
in Italy for IAPMA, the International Artists Paper Making Association,
included mold-making and casting in paper. In 2004, I was the recipient
of the silver medal for the le Monde de la Culture et des Arts M.C.A.
Cannes Azur.
